We had to wear skimpy white briefs under our PE shorts. They had to be worn for both indoor and outdoor activities. They were easily visible through the material of the shorts, so you could quickly spot any lad who wasn't wearing them. Sometimes you could get away with wearing these briefs under your school uniform. They would be used as substitute swimwear if any boy forgot his trunks.
